Our firm has an exclusive search for a VP of Research- Economic Development with a well-known organization headquartered in Greater Austin.
Our client seeks a VP of Research- Economic Development who will operate as a key executive team member, reporting directly to the SVP of Economic Development.
The VP of Research- Economic Development will be responsible for overseeing the Research Team and providing the research needs for the Economic Development Team as well as research assistance to other departments in the organization.
Additional Qualifications and Responsibilities include:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in an appropriate field with demonstrated experience in developing and communicating a range of business, socio-economic, and policy information and issues preferred.
- Knowledge of a variety of research databases.
- Proficiency with a range of software tools including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite, Access, web and/or publishing/graphics, GIS and other related research software.
- Review and make recommendations on appropriate databases to be utilized in the gathering of data for various metrics, economic indicators, talent/wage availability, business cost comparisons, presentations, websites, and marketing materials.
- Coordinate work activities for the Research Team.
- Develop and design presentation materials for the distribution of research data.
- Perform research, surveys, and analyses in support of economic development projects and publications.
- Support the Economic Development team and other OA departments with the production and maintenance of information products (shared databases, reports, surveys, marketing materials, web content, maps, PowerPoint presentations, etc.).
- Obtain and compile content to be included in a variety of materials, including but not limited to: Requests for Information (RFIs), publications, articles, prospect visits and other items produced by the Research team to support overall operations of Opportunity Austin.
- Evaluate internal databases for opportunities to improve usefulness, accessibility, and quality. Consider and implement revisions to data coverage, database programming, and report format as appropriate.
- Work with OA staff to achieve and maintain the highest levels of service to economic development Regional Partners, OA investors, and the general public.
- Build relationships with other members of the research, information, and economic development community to improve OA’s access to information and expertise, and to enhance OA’s presence within the community as a resource.
- Continue education in new research tools and implement appropriately.
- Perform additional duties as required.
